Bhubaneswar boy Anwesh Upadhyaya clinched a double by adding State junior (under-19) chess crown to the State youth (under-25) title at Baliapanda in Puri today.
Anwesh beat Sanket Parida in the sixth and final round to top the table with six points. The girls`` title in the State junior meet went to Aparajita Gochhikar (Puri), who finished with 4.5 points after being held to a draw in the fifth and final round by Ava Pradhan.
The three-day championship witnessed low turn out as only 22 boys and seven girls entered the fray. Among them, the top four finishers in boys`` category and top two in girls`` section qualified to represent Orissa in the Junior National Championship to be held at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, from November 3 to 11.
